Pattern in the Fabric of the Nation
M.Des - Glasgow School of Art
“We must understand that [they] have committed a crime, but the source of this crime lies in society. It is true that [they] themselves carried out this crime; but a great part of the culpability was transmitted to them by society.”
Patterns and a typeface created based on objects that perpetrators used on rape and sexual assault victims. Using these objects I created a typeface, Maim, and using the typeface I created indian patterns using fabrics that signified different skin tones. To depict the idea of patriarchy being ingrained in the fabric of the nation that was a repetitive pattern, one generation after another.
