Seksha
Master’s Thesis - Glasgow School of Art
I worked on the research, the conceptualisation, conducting interviews and meeting with NGO’s based in India along with the UI (visual) designs and developing the web-app myself.
Seksha is a sexual Education mobile app for young adults in India.
This project was about working alongside Men Against Violence & Abuse (MAVA) to explore and tackle barriers to sexual education. The focus was to understand the nature of issues associated with the taboo associated with SexEd & how it results in social isolation, leading to acts of sexual assault, harassment and rape. I did extensive research using methodologies likes connecting via online forums, online surveys, meeting with MAVA and their audience, along with research workshops conducted for locals. From my research I decided to focus on the aspect of sexual education for young adults as this would be the only way to bring about a change that was deeply rooted in the patriarchal Indian society through the new generation.
App Concept
The mobile app is designed to be playful, interactive and engaging for a younger target audience who are looking to know more about their body and about topics like sex, pleasure, and healthy relationships. Divided into distinctive categories, easy enough to be used by a 13 year old. The colours, typography were targeted towards a younger audience and extensive use of illustrations and interactions were designed for them to engage with and thus learn more.
